Shri. Shri Shankarrao Chavan son of Shri Bhaurao Chavan and Shrimati Laxmibai Chavan was born at Paithan,Dist.Aurangabad ,Maharashtra on  14th July, 1920.He is B.A., LL.B.
He completed his bachelor of Arts from Madras University  and  LL.B. from Osmania University.
He started his career as an advocate. He initiated Student's Movement and gave up practice of law during 'Quit Court' Movement in erstwhile Hyderabad  State.Shri Shankarrao Chavan is welknown for his effective skill of Administration.
He is the only one successful leader of Nanded. He is known as" Marathwadyache Shilpakar "
