Comred Anantrao Nagapurkar

Comred Anantrao Nagapurkar is a great honest Trade Union Leader of Nanded. We are proud of him to introduce todays generation because we are sure that elders need not require his introduction since he is very well know to them.

Anant Shankarrao Nagapurkar born on 6th October,1920 at post Mirvat Tq. Ambejogai. He born in Vatandar Family.
He matriculated from Ambejogai and then joined Usmaniya University for further education.
He started his political carrier at Ambejogai in 1940 by forming Jahal Yuvak Sangh, He took oath for liberty and socialism. Active participation in the formation of All Hyderabad Students Union at Hyderabad. He agitated for grant of two examinations in a year.
He particiapated at Hyderabad in Communist Party Study Course and party sangathan.
He started consolidation of students under the guidence of Comred Makdum Mohiyoddin and R.D.deshpande.
He finally joined the Communist Party of India as a member in 1941.
Full time worker for Trade Union
He worked as full time worker in formation of Railway Trade Unions at Purna, Parli, Jalna, Nizamabad.
He has organised so many strikes in 1947.
Imprisonment
Arrested in 1947 held responsible for Railway accident on Hingoli Line and Limbgaon. Released after 3 years and 11 months imprisonment in 1951. He was detained in Aurangabad and Beed Jail.
After release he worked with Comred V.D.Deshpande. In 1952 election he was the election agent of Comred Makdum Mohiyoddin .
Nanded
He shifted from Hyderabad to Nanded in 1955. He started his activities by consolidating Usmanshahi workers, Press Workers, Beedi workers and leading them.
Sanyukta Mharashtra Andolan
He was actively involved in Sanyukta Mharashtra Andolan at Nanded and Mumbai and he was arrested also.
Munciple Corporation
He was elected to Nanded Munciple corporation in the 1967 to 1980. He worked for slum people and their huts to legalise. He with his other friends defeated Vyankatrao Tarodekar then powerful leader with the help of Late Radhakrishna Aarwal.
Vidhansabha
He contested election in 1967 and 1972 .
Journalism
In 1965 he worked as Editor of Dainik Shramik Ekjut and published the same.
Recentlyhe again worked for S.T. Workers, Powerloom workers etc.

Sudhkarrao Doiphode rigthly said in his editorial on the occassion of his Public Felicitation that he never run after political as well as financial opportunities.
Even today there is no change in his financial position which were there in his earlier days. We have also seen his house and found the same. Even today he has same enthusiasm and cared for society. He still read and write for the betterment of society. He is not frustrated and still hopeful for change in society which he always see in his dreams for society.
Todays leaders of Trade Union can take a lesson form his work and work for workers honestly but they have toforget luxurious life and money making business.
We have tried to summarise his life achivements but still there is much more to write about him. Our aim is to introduce him to our younger generation at large and refresh memories about him in the minds of elder people.
